Smackdown VS Raw 2010

Used to be a wrestling fan, don’t have cable anymore.

My daughter gave me her old Wii when they upgraded for netflix. Tried a couple of games, Ho hum.

Then she gave me Smackdown Vs Raw , which I scoffed at. Tried it, okay better than I thought. Graphics and motion have improved a lot since I play video games. Then I figured out the create a wrestler section, create a move set, and gradually a few other things, because the manual doesn’t tell you much.

Then the game started surprising me with tag team partners attacking their partner during a singles match or someone jumping in the ring after the match to attack someone. I began to feel like a script writer for the WWE. Create the character for someone. Create an entrance and move set that fit the persona. The game seems amazingly deep and complex to me, although it’s probably dwarfed by others.

Couple of things I still can’t figure out.

The dam kick out. If I win I win, but if the opponent tries to pin me I can’t kick out.

Creating a storyline. The dam game has this glitch that a specific character can’t seem to challenge for the championship. He won the US title and seems caught in and endless loop of challenging for that. I have him fight the champ and the primary challengers but he’s never in a number 1 contender match.
I found the create a story line section and tried to insert scene and matches and they don’t play in the regular cycle.
Are they supposed to or are they intended to play separately? Looking for tips and insight from players.

IIRC, there’s an option somewhere in the settings to change kickouts from the “new style” to “old style” maybe try adjusting that, as I never had much luck with the “new style” compared to the old. Unfortunately the most recent edition, WWE’12 now only has new style.

Basically, new style you have to hold down a button (forget which one) then look at a little meter and time letting go of the button so its in a certain area of the meter. Old style you just jam on the button and if you have enough left in the tank you kick out.

Also, I don’t know how you’re playing the game, but it plays MUCH better with either the Classic Controller or a GameCube controller than it does with the remote and numchuck.

I never really played much of the create a storyline mode, but yes, they play separately from the existing “Road to Wrestlemania” or whatever it’s called in this edition (sorry, I’ve played so many different versions on so many platforms that they all tend to run together in my mind sometimes:)).
