I cannot stand it when my car is covered with road salt regardless of the outdoor temperature.
I do not have a garage. (You can see where this one is going.)
A few winters back, when my car was filthy I took it to a car wash on a day when the overnight temp was to be in the single digits. Surprise, surprise, surprise, the next morning all of the doors were frozen shut. So very luckily for me, my SO was off work that day and it warmed up later that day so it was no big hassle getting to work.
The dealer recommended that once the doors were openable,(?) to lube all of the door, hood and trunk weatherstripping with “white lithium grease.” I’ve been a convert ever since and suffered no frozen doors, either.
New Year’s Eve I had my car washed and the overnight temperatures dropped below zero. New Year’s morning: nothing frozen shut. (deep curtsey)

What is your small accomplishment that makes you proud?**
Seven years ago DH and I remodeled my childhood home and moved in (my parents are still alive, they just didn’t want to live there any more). Last weekend I successfully got the last of my dad’s crap out of the garage and over to their house -kinda the reverse of getting my crap out after I graduated from college.
I count that as a small accomplishment because I still cheat now and then. But I’ve been going some impressive amounts of time without. All day today, for instance.
We bought some nice new furniture this year. We’re in our mid-forties, and up to this point, we’ve always had cast-offs from other people. I’m all about re-using and recycling and stuff, but buying our own furniture has made me feel like a real grown up!
I think this summer is going to be the summer of getting our basement and garage straightened out - hopefully I’ll be posting that as my accomplishment next year.
I have 3 hooks mounted on the wall, on which I hang large implements which don’t fit in the drawer with the silverware.( a spatula, a serving spoon and a ladle for serving soup.)
I bought a new, bigger ladle.
I now have four implements, but only three hooks.
I have nowhere to hang my new ladle.
My ladle does not fit in my kitchen.
I am very sad.
Then I realized…I can hang TWO implements on one hook!!!
New Years Eve 2011 I sorted all my books and put together some new shelves to make it a loose fit. To this day, I find myself standing before that enclosure of bookcases and breathing a contented sigh.
Long story short. Past spring grew lots of various pepper plants from seeds. Had very good germination rate, which, apparently for pepper plants is something to be happy about right there.
But my seedlings were small, so I still wanted to buy some Habanero plants from Lowes just in case my seedlings grew poorly. I never saw any there. I started going to 3 or 4 different place a couple times a week. Even calling around to other places. Never any there. WTF?
Finally, I run across the mega nursery company guy restocking the plants. Where are the Habs? When you gonna get some?
Well, sir, they had problems this year and by the time they figured it out is was too late.
My psuedo green thumb swelled with pride at that moment. If a massive commerical nursery could flub that up and I could do better than them, maybe there was hope for me yet.
Though, I owe all the credit to ecoseeds.com, a pepper plant lovers hot wet dream. I just followed their directions to the T.
Through December, I let the litter boxes go waaaaay too long. It was a combination of the leftover dregs of my last bout of depression, getting sick with the flu, dealing with holiday stuff, and major procrastination. Last weekend, I girded my loins, bought some white vinegar and baking soda to counteract the smell, and I cleaned all three goddamn litter boxes, scrubbed them out, restocked them AND took all the garbage bags out to the dumpster.
Yes, grown ups do this all the time, but for me, it was a victory.
I actually finished all the knitted gifts I had planned on giving this year. I love starting projects, but I’m always less thrilled about blocking and sewing and all that stuff.
I also came in yesterday after two weeks. I certainly could do well in retirement, provided my eyes and hands stay more or less the same (good vision, steady hands).
I sent out all of my thank you cards for my christmas gifts yesterday and made sure my partner sent out cards for the gifts that were exclusively his.
I also made straight As (well Ok, an A and two A minuses) in my first semester going back to school.
