Have to upgrade receiver to one with HDMI inputs. Space is 12’x15’. TV sits on bookcase opposite apartment entrance(12’). Couches on either side of living room(15’). Sometimes place a chair in center of room for gaming. Speaker placement is awkward. For instance, left rear surround will be behind the apartment entrance. Right now have 5.1. Is 7.1 OK for this small of a space?
Getting a PS4 and keeping PS3 is the reason for upgrade. 7.1 upgrade is probably just because. I didn’t realize there were a lot of 7.1 PS3 games. Blu-ray rental/purchase is minimal.
