smelly tonsil bits

What are those yellowish-white, hard bits that lodge in the crevises of your tonsils. When they are dug out with the tip of your tongue and then broken with your fingers they smell like toe jam. Wierd.

Google tonsilolith, I am too scared.

Better yet, use the search function on these boards to look for:

Tonsillith
Tonsillolith
or Tonsil Stone

I’d like to nominate tonsilloliths as a candidate for a new “sticky” here as we seem to get the question at least once ever other week.

Google only has 600 or so listings for “tonsillolith” and that’s tbe most prevalent spelling - tonsolith has all of 69 entries - so it would be a good chance to help eradicate yet another bit of ignorance in the world.
