Smoke alarm for the deaf and blind

I am not deaf and blind when awake, but when I go to sleep I wear an eye mask to block out light and I wear both ear muffs and earplugs to block out sound. So when asleep I am deaf and blind. So smoke alarms using sound and light won’t work on me.

Is there a smoke alarm for someone who can’t see and hear?

There are alarm clocks that can shake a bed, I imagine that it would be possible to rig up a smoke alarm to do the same. I don’t know if anyone is offering such a thing, but that’s probably what you want.

Perhaps a sprinkler system?

Yes, there are systems that use wireless technology to transmit alarms to vibrating units. http://www.silentcall.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=6&osCsid=4210f76e084e7c7d56ead530b8c6d998#.UgRAv6wyjH0

We have smoke detectors wired into our alarm system.
If someone takes a shower and forgets to use the exhaust fan, then steam flows into the hallway upon opening the door. Within seconds, a special “fire” alarm sounds.

No hearing human could ignore or miss this sound. Just like ducking under a helicopter rotor that you couldn’t possibly reach, I close my eyes, hold my breath and duck as I go by the speaker to shut it off.

It makes no sense, but the sound is so loud that you can’t help it.

This ain’t no 8 dollar smoke alarm from Sears!

YMMV.

People who are actually deaf and blind usually have service animals to wake them. There are alarm clocks that are placed under your pillow that vibrate, so I guess there would be some way to rig up a smoke alarm to do the same.

Or how about a spouse?

Dogs.
