Snapping Triceps Syndrome

Due to a rare congenital defect, I have small medial epicondyles, and about 5 years ago I have developed bilateral snapping triceps syndrome. This is when the distal portion of the medial head of my triceps snaps over my medial epicondyle. Whenever I bend my elbows past 90 degrees, for example lowering a weight, it makes a quite loud, snick snap and it gets extremely annoying when do any sort of pushing exercise.

It has not yet caused me pain put I fear that it will in the future. The danger of this is that I am very prone to neuritis of my ulnar nerve, because sometimes the ulnar nerve can be pulled with the medial triceps head over the epicondyle and cause nerve problems.

Anyways, surgery is the only surefire way of solving this problem. I believe the surgery involves transposing the ulnar nerve and correcting of some sort of fascia to prevent the muscle from subluxing. How much does this procedure cost to do for both elbows? I know it’s a long shot asking this question here, but I don’t want to pay $150 for an orthopedic consultation…

Thanks.

I haves moved this thread from GQ to IMHO.

Remember that this board is NOT a substitute for medical advice. Your situation is different than others with snapping triceps syndrome, and any actual medical professionals on this board would have to guess at the specifics of your situation. I strongly recommend seeing a doctor.

IANAD - and I just had surgery from an orthopedic doc to fix one nerve in my index finger after an accident. I left the hospital in Colorado with $21,000 bill [$500 of which was my portion after insurance paid the rest]. Anesthesia cost the most.

Do with that information what you may, but I highly doubt your surgery would be less than that.
