According to Snapple (the beverage), “Brain waves can be used to run an electric train”. It is fact #59 in their bottle cap series of “Real Facts”.Go to Snapple.com , click on the Real Facts icon on the top of the page and when you get the game window to open up type in (in the bottom right corner where it says “Enter Cap No.”) cap #(59), and then the “Get It” button. You will get to choose between two “Real Facts” to determine which one is true. Apparently, the Brain wave fact is true.
Can anyone verify this, that brain waves have been used to operate an electric train?
Well, actually it says they can run, not have run…
Still, I find the claim dubious.
Welp, this dude’s brain waves run a game of Pong like nobody’s business, so…
Yes?
I suspect they’re talking about using an EEG rig to pick up alpha waves and using that to control an electric train controller. You’re not powering the train with brain waves, you’re just controlling the amount of electricity the train gets by picking up normal eletrical impulses from the brain. People can be trained to control these waves to some degree.
It’s not that big of a deal. There are a lot of how-to things on the net for building simple rigs to do basic computer control using brain waves. It’s still a long way away from being able to fly a stolen Soviet stealth fighter, though.
Ha! Great reference, buckgully
I have an EEG machine that I experiment with. I don’t know why Snapple specifically said electric trains when the same concept can be applied to anything with a switch. Such setups are often used in neurofeedback sessions where the the technician is trying to reward certain brainwave frequencies. I used mine to play play a pac-man game and modulate around the major scale.
After decades of being tested on by scientists, and as technology advanced throughout the years, scientists discovered that brainwaves could be used to power electric trains. My brain waves, in fact, were the brainwaves that powered the first ever electric train. When the train exploded due to an overload, I gained superhuman powers. Then, I was transported to an alternate dimension called the Upside Down, where I befriended a spider. Together, we are getting our revenge.
