SNL 50th Anniversary show Sunday 2.16.25

Two wild and crazy guys?

No, apparently the second white guy started to appear only after the first white guy left the show.

One of the people I just saw interviewed (Mulaney?) mentioned seeing Gail Mathias and someone else (maybe Denny Dillon) in the audience when they taped the 50th Anniversary Concert that was shown on Friday. They are from one of the non-Lorne seasons regarded as one of the worst. So I’m guessing the only ones not invited are the ones who have passed away. But I could easily be wrong, just don’t know.

Paul Simon doesn’t just look old, but he also sounds old. He can still play just fine, but his voice is much weaker than it once was. To be expected, I suppose, but the extent is surprising.

Well, he is 83.

Don’t forget that he’s also responsible for Kids In The Hall.

So, yeah.

What a terrible skit to lead with. Way too long and not funny at all. Yeah.

Black Jeopardy was pretty fun; whoever came up with the idea of having Eddie Murphy imitate Tracy Morgan should get a cookie.

I could go for the rest of my life without seeing Domingo again.

lol Will Forte.

Miley Cyrus gonna rip up a picture of Trump?

The Q&A followed by the “Anxiety” music video were pretty good.

Aubrey Plaza made a surprise appearance to introduce Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard. This appears to be her first public appearance since her husband’s suicide.

Im trying to remember if there are any “in bad standing” cast members… IIRC Gilbert Gottfried wasn’t invited to the 25th anniversary.

Just read that Bill Hader “politely declined” and Aykroid just wasn’t going to go.

Since he died three years ago, I don’t think he’ll make trouble tonight.

Is everybody else getting 60% of commercials being drug ads?

Yeah, I am. NBC knows the target demo for this show.

When they did the bit with Julia Louis Dreyfus and the golden retriever in the audience I wondered if they hadn’t given a seat to Brad Hall, but he was in the audience later next to his much more successful wife.

Important question:

Was Ellen Cleghorne there?

She was definitely on the red carpet.

Wow. That song by Sandler had me tearing up.
