Oh…yeah, that wasn’t murder like Blake or OJ. Even if it was manslaughter due to negligence, it isn’t murder.
But, yes, that probably is the other one.

Even Blake and OJ weren’t convicted of murder so the term could be applied broadly to anyone else.
I don’t recall if Matthew Broderick ever hosted but he was driving a car that crossed into the wrong lane and crashed headlong into another car killing two people in the process.
You made me wonder – turns out Broderick has hosted twice (1988, 1998).
So we’re up to four. Any chance Jerry Lee Lewis hosted? There’s an allegation the ‘Killer’ actually killed one of his wives.
ETA: Jerry Lee Lewis was never on SNL.
Missing from the “we couldn’t have done it without you” montage: Pablo Escobar
I thought “Expecto fellatio” was dirty in the sense of it being from the Harry Potter world. I also laughed out loud at it.
Tall, grey hair? Brad Hall, early 80s cast member, also known as Mr. Julia Louis Dreyfus.
One thing that surprises me in looking at SNL retrospectives is how brief the Martin Short-Billy Crystal run was – just one season (1984-85). I remember how big of a hit Short’s Ed Grimley was among my school friends. One season, huh?
I was also surprised that both Adam Sandler and Chris Farley were fired from the show. I didn’t remember that.
I pretty much agree. Not a fan of the prison rape jokes. And the Alien abduction is consistently pretty funny.
Since you mention it, not a fan of Debbie Downer. But, as has been said often - some good, some not good, most so-so.
Sounds likely. Thx.
Final thought - I often hear him described as “the comedian’s comedian”, and many love him. But I get my fill of Martin Short awfully quickly.
He originated Ed Grimley on SCTV, so up here in the 51st state we already knew the character.
It doesn’t do it for me either. Maybe once would be okay, but not as a reoccurring gag.
I see they are tossing some ad work to cast members, but streaming on Peacock the T-moble one set new records for most repeated.
Also used the Californians for a VW ad. I don’t get that gag at all. But, different strokes.
Probably “There are lots of people who want to see a Beatle perform live while they still can.” I suppose he could lip-sync or use autotune, but I’m happy it’s the real Paul.
I’d rather see Poll Boldwin. Have some cawfee and let’s tolk.
As for me, I’m just reading this thread. I would have wanted a “clip show”, show the best skits of all the years. introduce me to things I missed, and I’m sure there are fans now that missed old skits that they might like.
but then, I never thought it was as good as it used to be, even when it was new it was hit and miss. For every Bassomatic there’s five Loud Familys or the "you like da jooce"es or the entirety of the High Hefner hosted show.
My smartTV has a channel that does that 24/7.
Not special at all. And neither would a 50th Anniversary special that just replayed old sketches.
Wait, what? I didn’t know about either. Farley makes sense. Why Sandler?
Norm was the most famous one I can remember.
Sandler addresses his SNL firing from time to time. Maybe it’s hindsight and three decades of stardom on his part … but he doesn’t seem to be particularly broken up about how his SNL stint ended. Here’s a Hollywood Reporter interview from 2023:
HR’s Scott Feinberg: Some say that, after several years at SNL , you and Chris Farley quit the show. You’ve said you both were fired. What actually happened?
Sandler: It was kind of like them asking us to quit. There were new people at the network, and apparently they didn’t like me and Chris, so they kind of said goodbye to us in a nice way. Lorne was great to us, he wanted to protect us.
