Snowing finally

It finally decided to snow for real last night here (and again tonight), meaning that:
[ul]
[li]I got to practice driving slick roads for next week[/li][li]I got to do handbrake turns and doughnuts in a parking lot[/li][li]I had to plant all 82 of my 90%-off tulip bulbs right away before the ground froze or snowdrifts obscured my flowerbeds completely[/li][li]I may as well take my bike apart 'cause I’m not in to that whole “winter cycling” scene[/li][li]I’m already starting to not look forward to shoveling snow all winter at my new digs[/li][li]I realized I don’t own a snow shovel yet[/li][/ul]

Anyone else getting some new weather? (Coldfront means snakes on your engine block in south-central US? Tides leading to ring-around-the-foundation problems at your Venice villa?)

Yup.

I’m at the southern end of the province. Last night I went to a Halloween party and spent most of the night hanging out around the fire all nice and toasty warm. Wake up this morning and there’s a good dump of snow on the ground. It must have started some point after I got home (about 2am).

Here in Columbia it’s been nasty, rainy/misty, windy and cold for the last week. It’s 72 and sunny today. Missouri weather can never make up its mind.

Albertan in Maryland. It’s been sitting around 10-15c lately during the day. Yesterday there was a bitch of a windstorm. No snow yet but it sure felt like it the other evening.

I love how everyone at home forgets how to drive in snow, like it’s a freak occurrence that only happens once a generation. Never mind that there’s snow on the ground from (usually) October til March or April (as we had in Yellowknife).

Here in Victoria, it was so mild I was out gardening in the sunshine, wearing just a tee-shirt yesterday.

(Okay, so today I just nixed the idea of an outing with the dog as it’s turned chilly, windy, and rainy.)

(Yesterday, I was also wearing socks, shoes, underwear, and jeans. Just to be clear.)

My Wife has been measuring the amount of snow we have received so far. 77 inches since our first big storm Sept 23.

Gonna be a long winter.

Grr. No snow here, yet.

We got down to 11F last night, so it’s plently cold. Yesterday I drove up into the mountains to see if I could find some snow, but all we had was a lot of mist with a few snowflakes- but I bet the mountains got a good dusting overnight.

I’m annoyed because… this year, I’m ready. I bought a new vehicle specifically for the snow- an AWD Honda Element (lots of room for snowboard stuff, and camping!). I bought new tires specifically for how well they handle snow and regular weather, so I won’t have to switch over to studs. My driveway is only about thirty feet long this year, and I’ve got THREE snowshovels!

Man, I can’t wait. Send some of the white stuff Oregon way, would you?
