The press has covered Washington’s snow extensively. CNN has several videos of reporters out in the snow trying to find things to say.
It dawned on me that there’s two kids in the White House now. You’d think there would be snowmen on the lawn. Surely they let the kids play outside? I can imagine a few errant snowballs hitting the White House walls, or maybe one of those pesky reporters.
I’m so grateful my dad was stationed at Otis Air Base in Falmouth Massachusetts. I grew up sleding and playing in the snow, We had a huge hill across from my house. I had the traditional wooden sled with runners. I’ve also used those round plastic sleds.
My sledding days ended after my dad returned from Viet Nam. He was stationed at England Air Force Base, Alexandria Louisiana, Never been on a sled since. That was 1968. But, I had six great years in Massachusetts.
Sure hope the Obama kids are allowed outside to play. Snow and kids go together.
That’s why you stand next to another SS guard when you throw the snowball. Then when the guy you hit turns around to see who hit him you point at the guard you are standing next to.
Edit: Surely the kids, being kids, would know this. I mean we are still teaching the kids the Rules of being a Kid aren’t we?
Is this the right kind of snow? You can only make snowmen - or decent snowballs - from snow that falls when the temperature is right around freezing. Too warm, and even if it doesn’t melt right away it will be too slushy. Too cold, and the snow will be too dry.
Being Chicago kids, the Obama girls will know this
Yup, the girls have to be very snow-experienced, and I bet they’ll take advantage of that big lawn and the snow on it if they’re allowed.
I suspect two young First Kids will quickly spur - if there wasn’t already - a “no diving to take the snowball hit” rule considering that those guys would be throwing themselves around like football players.
