The skeptics in this thread and elsewhere can say whatever they want about how chiropractic is quackery and how pain “just goes away on its own”. OK, if you say so. I’ve had worsening back & neck pain for about 20 years, and have gone to multiple doctors (M.D.'s) who have suggested all manner of painkillers, muscle relaxants, anti-inflammatories and useless medical procedures, none of which has made a lasting difference.
“Go to the gym”- I’ve been exercising 3-5 days a week for most of my adult life, not to be a bodybuilder, but to maintain strength, flexibility, and cardio health. “Don’t go to the gym, you’re overdoing it”- the pain persisted even during the occasional 1-2 month break from working out. I kept pursuing medical options because everyone knows that chiropractors are quacks, right?
Finally, after realizing I had exhausted all medical options and procedures short of surgery, I decided to try chiropractic, despite my skepticism. I’ll give it a month or two and then opt for surgery, knowing that I’ve tried everything before going under the knife.
Two months later, I’m largely pain free for the first time in about 20 years. Not completely, but far better than any medical option has ever gotten me. So it’s quackery? It’s woo? OK, if you say so. But it has gotten me results that Western medicine has been unable to get for me, despite my skepticism.
“Pain goes away on its own”- sure. Thanks for your input. You’re just wrong, and your insistence on your position just convinces me that you don’t know so much about what you’re talking about.
Oh- and who referred me to my chiropractor? My medical doctor.
