Hmm a new coach named McQueary
As I pondered weak and weary.
I would have been amused if his name had been Coach McGuirk.
Gosh, then mayber there’s nothing funny about this situation.
And what does that have to do with the topic? I go apeshit not only for his fucking Mia’s daughter, but for his vicious attacks on her during their custody trial.
First of all, I am very sorry for offending you folks. I am extremely anti-pedophilia. I am certainly not laughing at any aspect of this horrific story…
…except McQueary’s name being linked to it.
I spose if I didn’t know anything else about this guy and I was 10 years old I might find it funny.
But his name is Woody. Hurr hurr hurr.
Nothing whatever funny about someone who raped boys whose name sounds similar to what many consider to be a nasty homophobic slur.
McQueary didn’t rape boys.
Thank you. My very, very bad. He was the one who witnessed one of the crimes.
Pedophilia is rightly condemned here, and I see a pretty good argument for being upset at McQueery. I don’t see how anyone can claim righteous indignation about finding the guy’s name funny. I also cannot understand why people’s entire brain shuts down when pedophilia is involved. I think we should applaud AnnieXmas for still being able to have a sense of humor around a sensitive subject. She’s not being insulting. There have been tons of jokes worse than this on this forum, none the least of which were those made about 9/11.
In summation, yes, Annie Xmas, that name is funny, and it did give me a minor chuckle. It honestly seemed like a fake name. I thought it was some new gay guy on Grey’s Anatomy.
yup, they all worship at the altar that is PSU FOOTBALL.
Thanks, Big T. I’m the first to admit I have a warped sense of humor. I would never support anyone sending unwanted sex photos, but c’mon…Anthony Weiner.
Odd, when I started a thread about that story, nobody condemned me for laughing at his name.
There is the little fact that his name isn’t all that funny. Other than that, yeah, why not laugh?
Because the two situations are exactly that same. Except one was about sending naked pics to adults and one was about torturing children. Except in one the “funny” name was the perpetrator and one was a witness. Except in one the “funny” name was a euphemism of a penis and one sort of sounds like what is considered by many to be a hateful slur which isn’t even appropriate to describe what happened. Maybe if the guy named McQueary was the former Senator from Idaho it would have been funny.
I think juvenile is a better word for your sense of humor.
Dig UP, Annie.
EXACTLY.
Earlier I almost posted that when Annie hit bottom with her initial comment, she then proceeded to continue digging. She needs to quit while she is behind.
UPDATE:
I found something that is a lot closer to laughing at than “McQueary”. This new accusation against a Syracuse coach comes from a former “ball boy”. But I can’t bring myself to laugh at that.
Nice to see that a few folks haven’t had humorectomies.
Jeez, guys, lighten up. A little juvenile humor is good for you every now and then. I don’t see why you can’t laugh a little at the guy’s name, and still be upset at the whole sordid affair. I could easily see Bill Maher using this in his routine.
It’s not a matter of lightening up. Gallows humor is fine, when it’s funny. If the guy who filmed the rodney king beating was named McMigger, would you find that funny?
One of the officers who beat Rodney King was Officer Stacey Koon, and I do think that’s funny, but for a different reason. Not to put too much thought into this, but the thing that bugs me about the joke in the OP is that it’s drawing a line between queer and pedophile, and no, I don’t think it’s funny to equate gay people and pedophiles. I could laugh at the name McQueary on its own, and if Gov. Jim McGreevey had been named Jim McQueary, that would’ve been kind of funny. But I don’t think it’s funny that a child rape was witnessed by a guy named McQueary.
