Is this a common practice to leave notes to the new POTUS? Anyone has any sort of idea what it could say? I have not heard anything from the media.
It is traditional, and usually private. We’ll not likely ever know what was written.
Don’t get Cheney wet?
The Metro managed to get hold of a copy.
Or feed him after midnight.
Damn, too late.
The link froze my browser. What did it say?
Just what you’d expect. Lots of misspellings, mangled words and ideas, hubris, and something along the lines of what we’ve been hearing for years.
just satire, not terribly amusing
“It really is the economy!”
I read that exact same story on these boards, but then Khrushchev was Reagan and Brezhnev was the guy that succeeded Reagan as Governor of California.
I was wondering: were any of these notes (I guess it’s been a tradition for quite some time now) ever made public? Isn’t everything that the POTUS touches supposed to be catalogued for generations to come?
The keys under the mat, feel free to use up anything left in the fridge.

*Dear Barack:
Congratulations on becoming President. Laura and I will be praying for you and for your family.
This is a tough job - no one knows that better than I. Please feel free to call on me if I can be of any assistance.
Wishing you the best.
Sincerely.
George W. Bush*
Or something like that. He knows what it’s like to come into a White House that has been trashed out of spite, so he isn’t going to do or say anything nasty.
Not sure why this wasn’t moved to a different forum, or locked, since there is not going to be a factual answer.

Shodan
Strangly it appears that the note left for the girls from the Bush twins was not keep private:
There, I provided a factual answer for the thread. Can I please take a jab at Bush now, please . . .
"The Printer’s Almost out of Ink.
And don’t forget to jiggle the handle."
That was very sweet and I think highly of the girls for writing it.
I doubt it’s a briefing on something of national import, he’s had a couple months of those already…
I assume most of the notes are “good luck”, “wish you the best”, and “I’m available for advice” type of messages.
Sardines! I loved playing Sardines!
(Although they forgot to add-“And don’t get caught trying to buy beer with a fake id.”)
-Just kidding-that was really sweet of them.
