So are these peace talks the real deal?

Does this summit have the potential to be history-making? It seems like both sides are pretty optimisitic and willing. Is it fear of the US that is creating an atmosphere of conciliation?

I’m not going to hold my breath.

To the last question at least, No. Why would Israel be afraid of the US?

Given the number of attempts and failures so far, I don’t think you can tell if these are “the real deal” in advance - it’s the real deal if something works.

Only if by accident. It doesn’t seem that either side has their heart in it. So far, despite their best efforts, progress has been made.

I don’t look for peace in the region in my lifetime.
