My son, 15 yrs, is mostly into classic rock, hard rock and heavy metal, which works just fine for me. He’s said more than once how lucky he is that he hears “Turn it up!” way more often than “Turn it down!”. He does listen to some random other stuff. I heard Sinatra the other day and MC Hammer. He asked if I had any Run DMC.
Yeah, he’s also into anime sound tracks and I don’t mind it at all.
I’m 49; my eldest son is 17. I like about two-thirds of what he likes, and vice-versa. He’s introduced me to some very good music in recent years. Some of my favorites include:
OneRepublic, “Counting Stars”
Usher, “Scream”
Rihanna, “Where Have You Been”
Cobra Starship, “You Make Me Feel”
Chris Brown, “Dreamer”
I don’t have any kids but I do have a 12-year-old “nephew,” and whenever he’s in my car he likes to listen to the Disney station on SiriusXM. Most of that stuff is ok, and some of it I even like (I don’t mind honest pop music). I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of music he gets into as he gets older.
I will admit to occasionally humming Fresh Beat Band songs.
I’m 60, Princess P. is 32. I enjoy P!nk and Savage Garden. Don’t really care for Garbage. Don’t like Marilyn Manson or J-pop at all.
