So Happy! [Zachary Quinto "In Search Of"]

Robot Arm, thank you for sharing; that is freakin’ outstanding–deserves a Clio award.

A review of an early screener episode by skeptic Jason Colavito here.

Unfortunately, it seems like they will not “debunk as much as examine.” The original was at least framed as a dispassionate, objective look at mysterious subjects, in which Leonard Nimoy was framed as simply the narrator (although it was actually largely credulous). This version appears to be framed as Zachary Quinto’s personal (and largely credulous) investigation into the supernatural, without even the pretense of token skeptical views.

As kenobi 65 points out, this is the channel of “Ancient Aliens,” so hardly surprising. The History Channel does occasionally dip back into actual historical programming, like “The Men Who Built America” (which I enjoyed), at this point it’s largely reality programming and woo-peddling (“Ancient Aliens” and “The Curse of Oak Island” are two of its longest-running and highest rated current programs).

I suppose it’s possible other episodes will be better. Even the highly credulous “MonsterQuest” (which also aired on The History Channel) featured an episode that presented the best debunking of “rods” that I’ve ever come across.

That was awesome.

The pair really did end up good friends. Nice to know the character of Spock is in pretty good hands. Nimoy was awesome.

The History Channel used to be jokingly referred to as “The Hitler Channel,” due to its preponderance of programming about WWII and Nazis. I can’t decide if the woo stuff is better or worse.

Yea, no, You know I watch T.V. for entertainment. I don’t expect to be taught ‘actual’ History on the History channel. If I learn a small nugget on my way to fun & games, good.
I loved Nimoy, I love Quinto. So I’ll watch, and maybe be entertained alittle.
It makes me happy.

If you’re a fan of Rob Lowe at all, you might enjoy The Lowe Files.

I’m disappointed to see, from the photo in that review, that they are apparently not recreating the very best part of In Search Of–the extremely '70s outfits that Nimoy got to model for us. Where are the turtlenecks? Where are the plaid sportcoats? Where are the denim suits with coordinating red neckerchiefs?

Truly, a lost opportunity.

You’re a pretty snazzy dresser, yourself.

Seriously? You’re talking about a channel that runs marathons, MARATHONS of Ancient Aliens hosted by that foreigner with the super creepy haircut. And apparently the show has pulled in enough dough to allow said weirdo to do some actual on location shots.

As I said, I hope for better.
