The sun has an atmosphere for the sound waves to travel through. I know there’s no actual surface on the sun, but you know what I mean …
If we could safely be on the surface of the sun, how loud would it be?
I’m guessing pretty damn loud.

There is “sound” in the sun’s atmosphere, though I put that in quotes because most of it is too low in frequency for humans to hear. I also don’t know the magnitude of it other than to say that your guess of “pretty damn loud” is probably a huge understatement.
According to this video it would be around 329dB at point blank range, and if there was air between the sun and Earth, we’d get 96dB.
Totally unrelated, but there’s a list or meme or something that pops up from time to time about misconceptions deaf people have about sound. In it, a deaf person mentioned that he assumed the sun made sound. That it was just a constant background noise we all heard.
Really unreated, a deaf person had no idea farts made sound until his teacher explained it to him.
