I like the color too. I also like the 60’s muscle car green they were painting these new mustangs. Once called Lime Frost, Ford changed it to Legend Lime. There is a message board out here somewhere dedicated to all owners of Legend Lime Mustangs. That’s pretty cool.
Perhaps Flowmaster recommendations shows our age, but to me, there is nothing out there that can make the car sound better than Flowmasters. It’s not about the loudness of it. It’s about a throatiness and growl that is very unique to the flowmaster muffler.
At least that’s my thought on the subject… either way, I’m sure the car sounds great.
The site I linked to above has audio files comparing the sound of stock vs. the replacement. Some of the Flowmasters I’ve looked at had too high of a note in my opinion (there are tons of versions though and I’m sure I’ve only looked at a few). I like the Ford Racing FR500S personally. I like the deep throaty note.
I still cant believe I own it…I have been without a car payment for almost 6 years…crazy I ended up with this car and not a more sensible one…
Dropmom offered her 1992 Fastback, 2.3 and an auto, but the kid next door has had his eyes on it forever and its value would drop with every mile from Seattle to Chicago. Let him buy it and its physical perfection, Mom.
But, speaking as your son, screw him for a grand or two because it’s so fine. Your other sons would agree if they weren’t already planning ways to hot rod it. And use your eldest remaining because he never left a dime on the table.
This would have been a MUCH more exciting thread had it been started by one of our resident licensed pilots.
Oooh, shiny! Congratulations!
My 2012 V-6 Mustang is two months old now and I’m still really loving it. The updated V-6 is also 300 hp, which has been very sweet and a major upgrade from the whopping 93 ponies in my old Tercel (man, that was depressing). I really like all the torque as well – she has lots of giddyup in every gear except 6th and that’s probably by design.
As to your CD question – there should be a “load” button somewhere on your stereo – push that button first and the machine should then accept the CD and drop it in the next available slot. IIRC that’s the only extra step you need to take.
Have fun!
Forgot to address your missing owner’s manual. Mine didn’t have one either, but they are available on-line. Here is yours http://www.ebooksquad.com/2008/11/01/2008-ford-mustang-complete-owners-manual.html.
Good to have for little things like bulb replacement, which fuse is which, what does this button do, and figuring out what those little light bulb looking things by the reading lights are (motion sensors for active alarm system).
Sweet! I’m looking at buying a new Mustang in the next few months (that’ll be my midlife crisis car ). Enjoy!
My Mustang is proving to be an excellent mid-life crisis selection. Just don’t go for red – that’s maybe a little too obvious.
Thanks guys! I am going to have a lot of fun with this car…until the first payment bill arrives, that is…
Yes, the blue convertible with the guy with the graying beard is much more subtle.
Dread Pirate Jimbo’s wife here - the only thing missing on his Mustang is the “Holy Shit Bar!” for me to hold onto when he screams around corners at twice the recommended speeds.
It is a pretty sweet car to drive, but it does indeed shift differently than the stick I’m used to driving. It goes real fast, real quick.
I love what Ford has done with these recent Mustangs. I drive a '67 rag-top with a few modifications"
Brakes: front disk, plus vacuum assist
Engine: Rebuilt 302
Carb: 650 CFM Holley
Intake: Edelbrock
Headers: Tri-Y
Stereo: After market Kenwood with a fake plate to look old school, until you notice the RCA cables sitting on the floor that plug into my iPhone.
I see the other 1499 here in Detroit, then.
That’s a direct consequence of living here: I’m completely desensitized to Mustangs. I don’t see what the hubbub is over them or Camaros.
The sound coming out of the SVT models is pretty nice, too.
That’s funny…
Well, I want something other than silver, white, or gray. At least this year, there aren’t many more choices. Bright red or bright blue enamel, darker red or blue metallic, or gold. No green, no yellow…
Will probably wind up with a gold coupe. And, no gray hair yet at age 46 (though it’s thinning).
Kona Blue looks very sharp without being in your face or looking like you’re trying too hard to be cool, IMHO.
Funny how the revered Mustang is so popular-but what about the Falcon (upon which the Mustang was based)?
