So I gave up on my conservative facebook "friend"

I have a relative who can’t go a day without posting crazy-ass stuff on Facebook, and I treat it like a flare-up of a chronic skin condition: I put her on snooze for 30 days an go about my life until another eruption. I’ve gone as long as a week in the past just surfing along with her crazy before I had to snooze her again.

I had a long-time friend who would do that. Once she posted more than 50 anti-Trump messages in less than 24 hours. Later on, she went on a pro-Palestine kick. I would unfollow her for awhile, then check back in. Finally I told her that not only were some of her posts crossing the line from pro-Palestinian to anti-Semitic, but they were factually wrong (Of course, I was happy to provide the facts.)

She banned me. On FB, banning is the step past unfollowing and unfriending. It’s what you do to stalkers. I can not view her page, if I search for her by name, she doesn’t even show up.

I still have her email address and phone number, but I get the feeling she doesn’t want to hear from me.

I don’t and never will fight with someone on Facebook. And I have never unfriended anyone. If I want to argue and care about the person enough to want to change their mind I’ll talk to them privately.

When I’ve had it with someone I unfollow them.
