If you liked the original F-Zero, F-Zero GX for the Gamecube will freak you right.
I also prefer the Cube’s Mario Kart (Double Dash) to the Wii version, but I seem to be alone in that regard.

I have been wanting Punch Out ever since I first did the Rhythm Boxing on my Wii Fit Plus. My boyfriend got it for me for Christmas and I am having a blast with it. I have to take it easy though because my left elbow doesn’t like the game as much as I do. You can play it like the original sit-on-your-butt Punch Out or like a get-up-and-move game.
I requested Just Dance from the library and I’m just waiting for it to come in. This is my main suggestion. Check what your library has either in house or on inter-library loan. It’s always nice to try a game before you buy it.
Other than that, I downloaded Ocarina of Time (my boyfriend also gave me a classic controller for Christmas) and I had a whole lot of fun with that for the 3 days between my computer dying and me getting a new one.
… library? It never even occurred to me that my library might have video games.
Go get Boom Blox. Now.
It’s brought to you by Steven Spielberg. Yes, you read that correctly.
When he announced he was creating a game people expected something deep with an amazing story. Instead he released the best party game ever. I suggest you Google it for more info, but a quick scan shows that it’s selling for only $20 now (I think a sequel was released). Its main game is like Jenga. But awesome Jenga. Awesome Spielberg Jenga.
Yes Library. Even my tiny, small-town library has a fairly large selection of Wii games (and other video games, and movies). They are generally pretty up to date on what the people in the area are into and they’ll carry it if possible, it gets people in the doors ya see? Actually, I don’t know WHY they carry games, I just assume that it’s to get people in the doors. If your inter-library loan system is any good, you can have vast stores of games to choose from, although you may have a little wait before it comes in.
Damn, I forgot to second Boom Blocks - I LOVE this game. It (and the fit) were the reasons I wanted a Wii in the first place. After I got my Wii, I couldn’t find the damn game anywhere so I got the Mario game (the one that’s like the old game - damn, I don’t remember which one it is). I ended up trading with my best friend - my Mario game for her Boom Blocks. My sister played it when she came to visit and months later when she got her own Wii, I got a call her wanting to know “what was that wicked cool game we played at your house?”
I better go sign up for a library card. Keep it comin’, folks.
Both super mario galaxy’s
COD Games
Goldeneye
Zelda (Both)
OKAMI (DEFINITELY very similar to zelda)
:golfclap:
Well done, Luk. You resurrected a two year old thread to recommend games that were nearly all recommended within the first three posts.
Heh, thanks for the laugh.
Well, since we’re here: I bought Goldeneye, both Zeldas, and a couple of GameCube games, and never really had time to play anything else. Also never quite got around to that library card thing. I hate school.
I’ll make the thread worth resurrecting, I guess.
Can you get a Wii for under $100 yet? Think the price will drop way down when the Wii U comes out? If so, what is a likely used price when the Wii U is on the market?
I got my Gamecube for $35 just a few months after the Wii came out. I’m hoping for a deep discount.
Well, if you run across it, Boom Blox is way more fun than you’d think. (And I think I’ll swing by target tonight and see if I can pick up a copy of Epic Mickey.)
I got a refurbished wii from gamestop for 85 bucks about 2 months ago.
Gizmodo just posted yesterday about there being refurb Wiis on eBay for $70.
Is this with 1 or 2 controllers?
It came with a wiimote, nunchuck and recharging station.
MarioKart
Raving Rabbids
Tiger Woods Golf
Boom Blox
Mario Galaxy
Star Wars Force Unleashed
can’t recall any zombie-themed games to honor the thread, though.
Dead Space: Extraction
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
Both are on-rails/lightgun sooters
Does Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition count?
