It is so obvious that this board is or will filtered by the likes of NetNanny. This board may not be seen in libraries soon if the censors have their way.
“B&N” as in Barnes & Noble? Well, if they carry them here, I’m sure they’d be the only place. This is the deep, dark, closeted south, honey. They still pre-empt TV episodes with too much “blatant homosexual content.”
I subscribe the The Advocate. I used to subscribe to Out, but I let it lapse. They can’t seem to figure out that I let it lapse, because they keep sending me “we’ll be happy to reinstate you if you pay, why haven’t you paid?” letters. Dipshits, I haven’t paid because I don’t want the magazine anymore.
But when I was buying The Advocate on the news stand, the only place in town that carried it was the (ahem) adult bookstore. 'Course that was ten years ago in the middle of Illinois.
responding to the thread title, i’d have to say that I’ve always found almost everything that Esprix has ever said to be pornographic. He’s just that way, he can’t help himself. It’s part of his charm.
Just got back from a trip to Dallas. B&N did indeed have a gay lifestyle section. A rather large one too (and the magazine section was big as well…ba-dum dum). And it was on the top of a two shelf rack so they apparently didn’t see an issue (of porno).
The mag I was there for, Photo, was behind the counter with Playboy, et al. A legit photography rag! Go figure…
Now I have to admit that the time-lock on my bomb-shelter just opened the door a few minutes ago but…
I may be out of the loop since my subscriptions to Straight Dork and Aging Losers went by the boards but who can dictate the availability of a magazine telling anyone how to live?
I guess I could flame HN for not having the balls to sally forth with Out or such but that would be prancing around the subject. We need to discipline such straight-arrow types and gag them until they are bound to see their come-uppance is going to hit them hard and hot.
I kneel before the editors of such firm publications as Out for their rigid, outreaching posture and hope that they strike a blow for freedom for all
Eve, I’ve found them all over the place. At Hudson News, they tend to have their own little section. Borders puts them in with “lifestyles,” I can’t remember what else hangs out with them. A few places (like the Chelsea Barnes & Noble) have them with the newsmagazines. And, of course, they’re never in the “men’s” section since who knows what would happen if a Maxim reader stumbled across them :D?
