So... I have my own MP5A5

‘Back yard artillery’?

I want one of these!

What to shoot… what to shoot?

Ah! Here’s an old Fresca can. And what’s that? A pile of brush I’ve yet to burn? And is that a little twig I spy, that is stout enough to old the can? Yreka!*

I put the can on the stick. It’s about 10 meters from the edge of my patio. The can is now suitably battered, and full of holes.

[sub]*California has a town called Eureka, and another called Yreka. I like to say ‘Yreka’ because small minds are easily amused, and it amuses mine.[/sub]

DAMN YOU Johnny L.A.! DAMN YOU!!

I was just about to offer you my hand in marriage. [sub]Never mind the fact that I’m a guy . . .[/sub]

I hate you. You broke my heart. :frowning:

Tripler
Now help me pull the damned hook outta my mouth. . .:smack:

Why can’t a girl offer me her hand (and the rest of her) in marriage? :frowning:

Here’s a hook disgourger. Ooh, that’s deep…

The link to the photo seems to have changed. Here’s the (current) page.

Airsoft sounds like alot of fun, but I don’t know who i’d play with in my town. I’ve always liked the look of the Aug. The only airsoft gun i’ve ever owned was a crappy pistol though. What is the fps rating of your H&K, and are you going to modify it to make it better.

I like the AUG. I’d like to have a real (civilian) one. (I’d like the civilian verson of the MP5, for that matter.)

My MP5 shoots at 85-95 mps (call it 270 fps). I understand there are ‘hop up kits’, but I don’t know the first thing about them. (Well, the second thing; as I do know they exist.)

Heh heh. This thing sure does a job on dandelions! And it sure eats up those plastic pellets!

You’ll shoot your eye out, kid.

Nice! Congratulations… I’m sure if you live anywhere near any sort of population center, you can find folks to play with.

I run with a VSR-10 that’s pretty heavily upgraded… I shoot at about 530fps, but I am a single shot bolt action rifle… sniping is hard work, but worth it. Now if I can just get my dang rifle sighted in, I’ll actually get some kills.

My partner rolls with a TM M4 with tactical foregrip and some upgrades that put him at about 420fps.

Good times, good times.

Aww, you’re making me miss my AUG & M9. :frowning:
(The girl doesn’t like “guns” around the house, and I’m too nice to make her uncomfortable.)

You can probably get locap mags for it somewhere - they won’t have the mechanism at the bottom.

Have you ever played with a gas blowback? They’re a real kick - literally! … especially after you polish & lubricate all the moving parts… mmm.

No, I haven’t. I looked around a while ago, and I think I even started a thread about them; but I was unable to find a gas-blowback MP5.

Most long arms are gonna be Electric (AEG’s).

There are a few companys that make gas long arms, but they are usually single shot weapons, like the Kr98 that AEX sells right now.

Gas Blow Back is usually reserved for pistols and smaller weapons, such as Mac-10’s.

We play airsoft quite a bit in England; two sites are within 30 miles of London.

I run with a Classic Army all-metal M4 with a full stock (for the big battery) and my old Air Force cammies… makes me look pretty authentic, even if the army-types mock me for the Zoomie that I am.

It’s tons of fun, but I didn’t know anyone in the US played?

ZOMBIE THREAD!!!

Yes, quite a lot in the US actually. Just about any decent sized city is going to have a group that gets together.

the hard part is finding places to play… Back in California, I was lucky enough to get in on a few games that took place at a paintball field. That was pretty slick, but there was some animosity between the paintballers and us. That led to a shootout, and since the site owner was a paintballer, we were asked politely to never come back.

Shame too… they had some great fields.

Always a bit of tension between paintballers and airsofters. We share one site with the paintballers here and have to ‘hide’ our cool guns until we get out on the field so we don’t make the paintball weenies jealous

How do you play airsoft games? The range has got to be terrible and there is no evidence the shot hit the person.

It’s an honour system; you know if you’ve been hit (most times) and you call yourself out. There are marshalls dotted around the field to ensure anyone who agreggiously cheats is called out, but generally it’s self correcting as anyone who cheats (i.e. doesn’t take his hits) isn’t generally invited back to play again and certainly won’t be able to join a team.

The range isn’t great, but a decent AEG will shoot accurately to about 40ft; sniper rifles will go out to 60-80ft. More than enough for mil-sim games.

Most times we play with re-spawn, so getting hit isn’t such a big deal, and most players play with light clothing only so you can almost always feel if you’ve been hit.

GomiBoy covered it pretty well, but while discussing this, please keep in mind that the weapons we’re discussing are not anything like the $20 spring powered pistol that you can pick up at Wal Mart.

We’re discussing $350 Electric guns that shoot fully auto at 300+fps.

Good times.

Well, most games lock out the muzzle velocity at 270fps; 300+ stings quite a bit and can chip teeth. We don’t generally play with paintball-style full face masks (optional), just eye protection, so catching a round in the face hurts like hell (but won’t break the skin like paintball).

Also, UK firearms laws mean anything over 300fps muzzle velocity is considered a ‘firearm’ and can result in a jail term, so people are pretty cautious about not going over the ‘legal’ limit. Damn nanny state, always trying to keep everyone safe and taking away all our fun.

Sample guns can be found here (prices are in Pounds Stirling so remember to double for US dollar) - not a cheap sport to get started in, but hella fun and once you’re through the initial outlay it is actually a pretty cheap day out - most places charge around £20 ($40 USD) for a full day including lunch with multiple rounds of play. Ammo is what makes the difference as the 6mm 0.2g BBs (which are even bio-degradable for the eco-conscious among you) shot by the guns are super cheap compared to paintballs.

Here’s one site where I play. They do some great ‘mil sim’ (short for military simulation) games here as several of the lads who run it are ex-services of one type or another.
