So I was checking the TX sex offenders website...

…And MY ADDRESS is listed.

I DON’T LOOK LIKE THIS.
My son doesn’t either, or my beautiful wife. What the fuck?

Best guess-Either the person lived there before and hasn’t reported moving or is using the address instead of where he is.

It may also be a mistake on the part of the agency that maintains the sex offenders database.

I’d definitely follow up with that agency to make sure their information is correct.

I can guarantee you that some of your neighbors have your house on a watchlist, and their children are not allowed to go near your yard.

Aah yes, isn’t name-and-shame a great piece of public policy?

Not necessarily a bad thing.

Polly Whiteheart and her husband want a system to track where these monsters live, so that if one moves into their neighborhood, they can be informed, or at the very least, sell their house before anyone else finds out about it.

Polly and her husband vote in every election. You can bet, that this type of public policy will be in place.

Do you know certain things about Darth Nader that the rest of us don’t?

I guess he did only complain that they had the wrong picture, and not that he wasn’t a registered sex offender.

I think he was aiming at the “at least you’ll have no kids in your yard” angle, rather than smudging Darth Nader.

And I can guarantee that if you somehow manage to get your name pulled off the list, your unofficial status will change to “Sex offender with political pull.”

Yes. I recently got a speeding ticket. I put it in my glove compartment and forgot about paying. VERY long story short, the cop was putting my info on the ticket and put the wrong city name, listing his own instead of mine. When I remembered about and went to pay the ticket, I found out that my license had been suspended and there was a warrant for my arrest since the address on the ticket didn’t match my DMV info. I had been mailed notification to the wrong address.

After nearly 90 minutes at the magistrate’s office, I received an apology and paid the original ticket.

That’s what I was trying to say :).
I’m a she.
