So I was reading the New York Times today

I was just browsing through the paper while eating my dinner this evening. Nothing too interesting to me other than NASA not catching the space probe yesterday. Oh? What’s this? Lots of little pictures…

:frowning:

That’s the first time the newspaper has ever made me cry. Damn, some of those kids are even younger than me.

Excuse me while I go be depressed for reasons that my messed up brain cannot understand today.

So…what was it? I just finished the LA Times and I didn’t see anything particularly upsetting, so I’m guessing it wasn’t news as such.

Probably this interactive page. But you have to register.

It was pictures of all the military folks who died in Iraq. I’m surprised by how much I was bothered. Pictures of dead kids in Russia this past week, a picture of some dead girl hanging out of a bombed bus last week, 9/11…I barely blinked at them. Sometimes I just don’t understand my emotional response to things. For some reason this cluster of 1000 smiling portraits really got to me.
