Ammo prices tend to be good during Republican presidencies. No panic buying from the “they’re gonna take our guns” crowd. That’s the fear that really drives up demand.
I toyed with the idea. The fight-or-flight reflex will do that. But as mentioned many times in this thread, they’re not much of a match for the state monopoly on force.
Now, if the militia/paramilitary situation gets bad, I might have to think about it. I couldn’t fight off a squad of feds, but against a 2-man “checkpoint” of Bubba and Billy Bob Proudboy, it might be worth planning for.
I do know that. I was buying to try to desperately shout “Shut UP” to the part of me that was losing it’s mind after the election but also ahead of the new tax on firearms and ammunition in Colorado (which I voted in favor of mind you!). 
I admit I considered it for a nanosecond, but guns are such an anathema to me, the notion immediately disintegrated. I did purchase a stun gun and pepper spray. I don’t really foresee having to use it here in red bougietown but I’m keeping it tucked away with my " in case everything goes tits up" emergency kit. Obviously it won’t do much if things get really out of hand but it makes me feel somewhat prepared.
Trump winning has motivated me even more but not because I’m afraid of being dragged off to a death camp by Proud Boys.
