So, I'm being investigated by Homeland Security

eeerrr…uhmmm… sorry Tasha Bot, but something smells mighty fishy here to me…

  1. Threatening comments (to at least some extent) made in two separate blogs / journals
  2. The “public one” has you saying Hillary was lucky you didn’t have a gun, the “private” one, you keep specifically for bitching was MILDER?

Eerrr… I’m not really a betting man, but if I had to make a decision it would most definitley to be calling bullshit on this, it somehow doesn’t quite jibe for me…

Not that I think you are trying to pull the wool over our eyes, but it “jus dun seem logical”

There was this girl on livejournal a few years ago (who I think was big in the Harry Potter fandom, because I don’t recall how else I knew her) who wrote some amusing dialogue about Bush after the presidential debates. Homeland Security was questioning her the next morning. She settled it, locked the entry, and all was fine.

Then she went to book a flight and found out she might be on the No Fly list because of it. Just something to think about.

Tashabot Stop and think for a minute about what would have happened if the interweb, and LJ had been around in 1968. Imagine the uproar in the press if after RFK was assassinated it was found that Sirhan Sirhan had kept a LJ where he had made threats against RFK.
Does the term feeding frenzy bring anything to mind? Every media outlet in the country would be calling for the head of anyone that had anything to do with protecting RFK. (Yes I am aware that Secret Service protection of candidates is a result of RFK’s assassination, work with me here)
I don’t consider myself overly smart, but I thought everyone with an IQ > houseplant knew that making a threat of any type against a person protected by the Secret Service is a BAD IDEA[sup]TM[/sup]. Putting anything like what has been posted here somewhere public is just begging to get a visit from the Secret Service.

My advice to you is forget journalism, unless you plan on writing obits for the next 40 years. I hear that Mickey Ds and the 7-11 are hiring.

All that for someone she’s been physically near once and hears about in the news upon occasion?

:dubious:

Ok-she’s not 14. She’s needs a life. I have nothing but contempt for Bush, but I wouldn’t say something like that about him anywhere. I have to think that somehow Hillary threatens the OP in some obscure (child molester? WTF?) way that has significance only to the OP. (and please don’t share it with us, dear. thank you).

This is all going to get so messy when we elect President Ike Hill.

Your husband doesn’t have to wait, because “Department of Homeland Security” or “DHS” is “KGB”.
The acronym “KGB” is the Latin transliteration of the Russian Cyrillic “КГБ” which when written out in Russian is “Комитет Государственной Безопасности” or with our Latin alphabet “Komitet Gosudarstvennoy Bezopasnosti”. Translated to English, this means “Committee for government security” which is not far off from “Department of Homeland Security”. It is ironic, that the Russian version sounds less imperialistic than the American one, as “Homeland Security” sounds like something that the NAZIs or George Orwell would have come up with.

Welcome to the SDMB!

FYI, the post you’re responding to is 15 years old, and the poster also hasn’t posted anything since then, so it’s likely they’re not going to see this response. This board is downright ancient by internet standards.

I am aware of that. I just had a conversation with someone about the same topic, so I figured that I would grace the Internet with a bit of knowledge anyway.

and a wonderful bit of knowledge it is!
Welcome aboard–I think you’re going to like this place.

Sounds ominous !
