All I can say is please don’t judge Texas by Waco. Texas isn’t all abandoned warehouses and Baptists.
Huh. How come no one’s yet mentioned Carl’s Corner? To be honest, I’ve driven by it many times without actually visiting, so maybe the town’s story is more interesting than the place itself. Anyway, it was once famous for having giant frogs on the roof, though this 2002 photo shows they’re no longer there.
Right! And I’ll tell everyone that SanguineSpider told me to do it!
Well, we get to go through Houston, Paradoxical. We change planes there. And no, I wasn’t expecting Bonanza- I wasn’t really expecting anything. All I really knew about Waco before I started this thread was 1. That Baylor is in Waco, 2. That Waco is pretty poor, and 3. That you can’t get curry powder or decent tea for reasonable prices.
I understand it’ll be about 9C on Thursday. Since it’s still bloody snowing here in Toronto, and -5 is starting to feel warm to me, 9C will feel beautifully tropical. I won’t have to wear a coat! I’m so excited!
Oh, I forgot – if you’re literarily inclined, the Browning Library, which houses the works of Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning, is at Baylor. A seemingly unlikely place for it to be, but hey, there it is.
