Try valued opinions, opinion outpost, socratic technologies, viewpoint forum and ithinkpanel for online places that pay cash. Also try wahm.com / rat race rebellion for a list of legitimate work at home jobs.

Exactly. My homeless friend has to be on the bus to the shelter at 3:30 pm or she has no chance of making it. Tough to find a full-time job that lets you out at 3.
I don’t know how the St. Louis-area Salvation Army shelters operate but the Northern Virginia one I was in didn’t have a set check-in time for “permanent” residents. “Permanent” typically meaning “four months”.
Here’s the number for the Salvation Army in St. Louis: 314-646-3000.

I don’t have much to add, except that I hope you can find a home again, Dorothy, and some help with things in the meantime.
**Dorothy **- Wishing you the best of luck. I’m also nowhere near you, but I do have experience working with homeless, and understand some of the ins and outs. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk about anything.
Some of my homeless friends use the library to stay in touch online. I don’t know what the rules are at your public library, but it may be a way to pass time and help looking for work/housing/shelter/etc.
Many religious organizations have programs to help as well…these can work really well if you happen to be religious.
Aw, Sweetie! I wish you the best of luck. Like others have said, if you were in the area, we would do what we could. Sacramento’s Loaves and Fishes has a women’s services center that provides hot showers, toiletries and such for working homeless women. I hope you can find someplace like that in St. Louis.
SD, all the best of luck, skill, hard work and good attitude to you. You can do this. As the song tells us, we get by with a little help from our friends.
Let us know what you need and what you are looking for and will will try to help you find it.
