So I've Got This Brain Tumor, Y'see...

Good luck, Cavey!

Best of luck, caveman!!
Socks. Don’t forget some warm socks.

Very best wishes and good thoughts, caveman! Looking forward to the Ask the Completely Recovered Brain Surgery Patient thread.

Good luck, caveman! May you come out of this with a hole in your head, one tumor less, n’ be totally twitch-free!

Godspeed, caveman!

You realize this means you can never again say “I need this like I need a hole in my head,” right?

I wish I’d seen this thread when you originally posted it, although I don’t know if I’d have said anything much different from what’s already been posted. I was diagnosed with a brain tumor (technically a pituitary tumor) about ten years ago. My tumor was partially inoperable due to its location, so it could not be totally removed with surgery. I’ve had two operations for it as well as two bouts of radiation, but it hasn’t given me any trouble for nearly six years (knock wood).

Since your tumor is in a different location your surgery and recovery may be very different from mine, but I wanted to let you know that I came through fine. I did not have particularly bad pain after either of my operations, and didn’t even take painkillers after the first day or two. I don’t want to paint too rosy a picture here, I was definitely swollen and uncomfortable, but not in agony or anything. And honestly, as uncomfortable and difficult as it was at times, the recovery process was a lot less stressful than the waiting and worrying beforehand had been.

I hope things will go similarly well for you. Once you wake up after the operation you’ll know you came through the worst of it okay, and you’ll be able to focus on getting better. It will be frustrating at times because you’ll be very weak at first, but you’ll be getting stronger every day.

Good luck! You can do it!

Sending healing thoughts your way! May whatever gods there be, be with you.

Best wishes to you.

Worst wishes to the tumor.

Caveman, beat the sucker and have a full recovery.

Best wishes!

Has anyone heard from caveman?

Edited: Has anyone heard anything about caveman’s condition?

Today’s about the soonest we could expect to hear from him. Figure one day in surgery, one day in ICU, two days of recovery… he should be going home today, at best. Unless someone brought a laptop to him at the hospital.

Yeah, you’re right. Just a little anxious to hear something I guess, since we can’t be there.

Thanks
