So my cat is trapped under the sink.

I dunno, the guy who rescued her killed himself.

I just had a customer’s cat come home several days after a house fire. The cat apparently escaped the fire from an open door as firefighters were battling the blaze. Temps were below freezing and the cat suddenly reappeared after 4 days. Dirty and disheveled but no worse for the wear.

Cats are pretty resilient critters. Keep us posted!

I’m thinking after the baby that fell down the well.

Anyway, major update: I was sleeping, as I said, and I woke (the first time) after a few hours. After getting a drink, I turned around to see the cat’s head poked out of the door from under the sink looking at me. He gave a good, healthy-sounding meow and I just stood there flabbergasted for a minute, then called to him and approached…and he promptly disappeared down the hole again.

So 1. Thank goodness and 2. Those of you saying he probably just found a new hidey/secret place were right. It really was nothing, but thank you for trying to take the edge off my worries during that time. I woke up again just now and he’s out and about again…and meanwhile opening other cupboard doors looking for places in his usual, curious self.

Hooray, hooray, hooray!

Now tie that door shut.

Thank goodness! Is there anyway to block off the hole now to keep kitty from getting in there? Maybe a board that he can’t move? (And yes, definitely bug your landlord about it – as others said, it could be an entry point for all kinds of vermin)

I assume you’ll plug up the hole ASAP-perhaps cardboard as a quickie barrier?

I didn’t know that. What a tragedy. :frowning:

Woohooo! Good news indeed!

Yes, I put a large box that I had in front of the double doors leading under the sink. For now, it will do until I contact maintenance to fix it, a job I won’t let them just pass up.

Another reason not to get a cat: they’re fuckin crazy.

Since everything is OK…

A cat stuck in a wall.

Great news. Change the cat’s name to Rabbit. A thought just occurred to me. The cat may be getting heat from the apartment below. His new hiding place is the often sought after hot spot.

And/OR the your local version of the Landlord/Tenant association. It sounds as if they’re pretty lackadaisical about a lot of maintenance stuff, you may (depending upon where you live) have some form of legal backup. Check your city gov’t, ombudsman etc.

Best of luck!

Huzzah!!! I’m so happy to hear that Kitty is okay.

Congratulations!

I suggest Butch or Sundance, after the Hole in the Wall gang.

How about changing Mu to Murus - Latin for wall?

I defer to my colleague Doug.

Put some child protection latches on the cupboards, even if you or maintenance covers the hole. You’re going to want to store cleaning products and the like in the cupboards that you won’t want kitty to have access to.

Yay team kitteh! Give a scritch for me.

Good Lord!
