So, The Open - Is this Tiger's chance?

Your other posts show some golf knowledge, so I doubt you believe much of what you’re throwing at the wall here.

You know that players have different preferences. Phil plays less often than a lot of pros, but he happens to think that it helps him to compete the week before a major, so he does. He’ll usually play his practice rounds at the major venues before that — even Augusta, which he knows very well.

And you know that in the 60’s, most pros didn’t have yardage books, or even permanent caddies, so it helped a hell of a lot to see the course in advance. By the way, all credit to Jack for pioneering the use of yardage books. I’ve always said he was the smartest golfer ever.

As for noise in his life, please. Are you seriously comparing kicking back and watching your kids play baseball with the shit storm that is Tiger’s life?

Edit: In my last post, I forgot to thank you for the tip on the GD Year in Review. I live in a small town with no library, but maybe I can pursue that later, so thanks.

I am saying that Jack made a vow to Barbara that he would try not to be away from home for two weeks in a row.

If Jack is watching little Gary play little league baseball it means that he is not practicing golf or scoping out major venues.

If Jack is designing golf courses, overseeing construction, it means that he is not practicing golf or scoping out major venues.

If Jack is trying to save MacGregor Golf from going belly-up, it means that he is not practicing golf or scoping major venues

Jack actually designed golf courses. He was no figure head designer. He was basically an apprentice to Pete Dye and he got his hands dirty in the late 60’s and early 70’s. He learned to design golf courses and make sure that his first efforts actually saw the light of day.

And Jack had to endure that shitstorm in 1968 and 1969? No wonder he won no majors those two years.
