For its time, and compared to such crap as Scobby-Do (sorry) Land of the Lost was a decent show. SciFi writer David Gerrold even wrote for it.
I remember an episode where they find the journal of an (english, go figure) guy who seems to be describing a way back home. They follow his directions, which lead them into the Sleestaks’ lair (turns out they hibernate and are all frozen against the cave walls).
Anyway, they reach what they think will be an exit near a lava flow, but the lava is rising. They suddenly realize that the heat is what brings the Sleestak out of hibernation! They barely escape, and when they read the last part of the journal (which they found in the lava cave) they read how the english guy didn’t escape but got trapped in there and is just waiting for the Sleestak to come and get him.
Really creeped me out!
