Awesome. Congratulations!
I can’t speak for the OP, but in my case it was 30 years working for the federal government, which entitled me to an immediate pension with lifetime health care coverage. A few lifestyle changes because my pension is significantly less than my salary, but being recently widowed with no kids means minimal financial responsibilities. Investing in a 401(k) plan through payroll deductions and putting money into IRAs gives me some money I can start withdrawing a little later. I’m looking into part-time work in my new location, or possibly some sort of home-based business.
My needs are simple…I’ve got a library of unread books & unwatched DVDs that I’m slowly working my way through. I’m not planning any extensive traveling, but I have a few interests that I never had time to pursue before.
What a greta idea! I was thinking of going to the states in October and wanted to visit Las Vegas (I’ve never been to the USA)- maybe I could combine the two. Thanks for the thought.
Las Vegas in August? Are you sure that won’t be a bit chilly for you, Cicero?
My husband and I are on the Freedom 95 plan. Honestly, I don’t think I will ever have the luxury of a paid, pleasant retirement.
I don’t expect to retire until my late 60s. And then I’ll take a part time job somewhere.
Since my entire net worth at this moment, at age 50, is less than $10 (and that is counting the coins at the bottom of my purse), I will be saying “you want fries with that?” when I am well into my eighties. Thank God I don’t have to say it now, but give it a couple weeks if people don’t start spending money where I work.
Been a public servant for close on 40 years- and have had superannuation all that time. I’m actually on Long Service Leave for 12 months plus a bit more leave. I’m fortunate in that I can access my super at 55- the age has since been raised. I’ll never be rich, but I don’t expect to be broke either.
