2 different doctors offices in the last week and my dentist advised via email that patients will be told to wait in their cars, so no waiting room - no chairs. The doctors’ offices I visited had removed probably 2/3 of their waiting room chairs. So where have the chairs gone?? Is there an opportunity to open a chair storage business??
Anecdotal only: I had to visit Discount Tire for some “essential” repair. They had all the chairs piled atop one another in the corner of their waiting room leaving nowhere to sit (I could see them through the windows). My assumption is they’re planning to return them to the original configuration at some point.
FWIW: They did a really good job of masks/distancing. Better than the few other merchants I’ve visited so far.
My bank simply turned their lobby chairs to face the wall, but my doctor’s office has removed all of their upholstered chairs and replaced them with a couple of plastic chairs that can be scrubbed and sanitized. My guess is one of the exam rooms is stuffed with furniture. At the salon, we’re planning to move the sofa and chairs from the waiting area to a back room.
We have fancy Herman Miller chairs at the office. We let staff take one home with them if they need a good desk chair. We’re planning on blocking every other desk, so this helps us.
Is that a permanent thing, or is your employer expecting people to return the chairs eventually? Mine was very careful to track exactly what IT equipment went to work-from-home employees. I assumed they were afraid stuff would disappear.
