So What Are You Doing New Year's Eve That's Out of the Ordinary?

Going to a stranger’s house. Husband’s band is playing a house party (other members booked it without asking us, so I am a little bent out of shape about it). We both hate going to parties NYE, especially to go somewhere we aren’t familiar with. Ah well.

Last year we were riding home from San Francisco in the (torrential) rain. When we got home around 8:30, we took a hot shower to warm up and promptly collapsed from exhaustion. I have never been so cold, wet, and tired. I’ve also never had a better road trip.

We’re going to friend’s. We’ll rent movies and eat take-out. (Chinese.)

No pyjamas, though.

Watching snow melt, apparently. I doubt the roads will be good enough for me to want to drive on them after dark, even if I had a burning desire to go out. At least the fireworks the people down the street shoot off for any and all occasions aren’t likely to start any fires this time around!

I’ve always thought December 31 was the coolest possible birthdate. Have a great one!

I’m getting Silly Drunk (yes, that needs to be capitalized) with friends and playing Guitar Hero/Mario Party. Oh, it’ll be great.

Circus Maximus for me. I’m generally one who likes a quiet NYE, but the lineup is too good to miss:
Sasha & Digweed
Armin van Buuren
Ferry Corsten
Sander Kleinenberg

I live quite close to Sydney harbour and it’s 5.00pm on New Year’s Eve. The normal crowds are starting to mass for this evening’s fireworks and, as usual, my street is getting very congested. The unusual bit is that this year people are offering me money to be able to park in my empty garage. The last one offered $200 for an evening’s parking.

Friends have been struck down with a case of viral death and as such, it’s back to movies. Damn it.

For the first time, I will NOT be watching the ball drop. Our house (by choice) does not have cable TV, so the only indicator of the new year will be our clocks.

Woo hoo! Happy birthday twickster!

In the same vein, the unusual thing I’ll be doing today is celebrating the day before my birthday.

I’ll be in prison.

Which, because I work there, isn’t that out of the ordinary for me. But I don’t usually work there at night - I’ll be covering for another guy so he can take the night off.

Seconded! Have a great one, Twicks!

Me, too. Presents at midnight!

I normally go out with my friends, but since I now live two hours away from them and have to work in the morning, roomie and I will be watching the Entourage marathon tonight. I started my day at a 7am work meeting, then sleeping until four, then finishing the third season of Queer as Folk. I will be having a few drinks but they will be consumed on my recliner in jeans and a hoodie.

Happy birthday, twickster and Nancarrow! Congratulations, Misnomer and Alice the Goon and all others with new love! Yay, Kyla!

Me, I’m… on the Straight Dope. (You knew that was coming). Oh. What am I doing that’s unusual? Ummm… I defragged my computer today. That’s about it. I’m just getting over my own case of Nasty Chest Cold.

And happy birthday, Athena!

Well, today I saw the Broadway revival of Company, watched the crowds fill into Times Square, and am now back at home in my apartment where I will spend the rest of the night watching TV.

Apparently we’re starting a family feud.

We went over to my BILs house. The other SIL and BIL were not invited. My MIL called Ivylad to wish him a Happy New Year and seemed a little miffed at where we’d been.

Long story, involving a formerly close family that is starting to get a bit ragged around the edges due to a perceived imbalance in the family dynamic.

Thank you – and I sincerely wish the same to you!

Awww … it’s awesome that you guys have that story now, though.

We had a very low-key NYE: we’d been out/stayed up late on Saturday night, so we slept in on Sunday, had a late lunch, then slept a little more and watched Office Space before heading out to what must have been the least-crowded bar ever on New Year’s Eve. It’s where my BF hangs out a lot, though, so he knew some people there and we had fun drinking and hanging out … and the having someone to kiss at midnight thing was awesome.
