So what’s the worst song on the best album by your favorite band?

Her Majesty, while not a particularly good song, is at least separated from the fluid, seamless sequence on the second side between “Because” and “The End.” As for Sun King, I’ll just have to disagree with you.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery - “Benny the Bouncer”
Cute song, buried in a sea of awesomeness.

Dream Theater - Metropolis II: Scenes from a Memory - “The Spirit Carries On”/“Through Her Eyes” (tie)
I hate the slow, drippy songs.

Rush - Signals - “Chemistry”
Mostly by default.

Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway - “Silent Sorrow in Empty Boats”
Dull instrumental padding.

Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick - umm…there’s only one song.

Yes - Revolver - “To Be Over”

Black Sabbath - Sabotage (controversial choice) - “The Thrill of it All”

Iron Maiden - Powerslave - “The Duelists” (by default)

Heh. Yes covering the entire Revolver album would be awesome.

My bands were

Stereolab
Best Album: Emperor Tomato Ketchup
Worst Song: Monster Sacre (although it may just be that it is the only slow number on the album which is absolutely fantastic)

Pavement
Best Album: Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain (in my book, I know that most people would say S&E is better but I like CR, CR)
Worst Song:* Hit The Plane Down* (really, they need to get rid of everything where Spiral Stairs had any singing)

Beatles
Best Album: Revolver
Worst Song:* Love You To* (and I play the sitar – I totally agree with everyone else about this song. George gets 2 songs max per album.)

Beck
Best Album: Odelay
Worst Song: Minus

Bjork
Best Album: Homogenic
Worst Song: *Pluto *(which may be my least favorite song by her)

Rolling Stones
Best Album: Beggar’s Banquet
Worst Song: Hmmm…I like every song on this album but if I were to pick one, I’d go with Stray Cat Blues.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Best Album: Live Seeds (I could also go with Henry’s Dream or Murder Ballads)
Worst Song: I dunno, maybe Plain Gold Ring

Radiohead
Best Album: The Bends (to be different, I actually like OK Computer just as much)
Worst Song: High & Dry (spoiled by too much bad karaoke)

Sigur Ros
Best Album: Ágætis Byrjun
Worst Song: It all kind of flows together, but maybe Vi›rar vel til loftárása goes about a minute or three too long.

The Wedding Present
Best Album: Seamonsters
Worst Song: Blonde

I would also add that the first band that typifies this with me is Led Zeppelin’s Houses of the Holy which has the abysmal The Crunge which I’ve deleted out of my iTunes library in the 1:10000 chance that it will come up on random.

The Clash, London Calling - “Lover’s Rock”

Not only is this the worst song on the greatest album ever, it’s the first song The Clash ever released that was less than excellent. Not bad for halfway through your third album.

The Who, Who’s Next–“My Wife”

Are you kidding? Did you follow the storyline? See the movie? Mighty powerfull.

I second Living Loving Maid from Zep II, but with more enthusiasm than the previous poster. That song just really annoys me.

I meant Relayer, obviously. :smack:

(How about someone covering the entire Relayer album? I’ll bet Dream Theater could do it.)
