For the first time since I started Kroger pickup almost a year ago, I got everything I ordered today! Since I always over-order (due to not getting everything) I’ve got lots of food. I should be good for about two weeks now.
ENO is back in my local pharmacy! Have been looking for it for months.
Still no jar couscous.
I went to the mall to buy shoes for the first time in over a year. Foot Locker had almost no selection, and the selection on my size is even worse. I bought about my fourth choice.
Also a shortage of stores in my mall - about half are closed.
And I thought it was just a local or regional problem. I was down to my last 4 boxes and was trying other high-fiber cereals. I finally did stock up again 3 weeks ago.
V8 Energy seems to be an issue in my area.
I suspect we can “look forward to” more supply issues as a result of the Ever Given clogging up the Suez Canal. I’d also seen just before that some concern about shipping container shortages likely to cause supply chain issues.
Bicycle parts.
Since the start of all this, I’ve avoided the subways (I’m in New York City). I get everywhere by bicycle. If I absolutely must go somewhere on a given day, and it’s raining on a monsoon level, I’ll take the subway (double-masked, with faceshield), but otherwise, it’s the bike.
Gearshift wore out.
Seat wore out.
Tires wore out.
The local bike shop had nothing (granted, the tires are an odd size – my bike is a folding bike). Ordering online, I had to search hard, and even then, wait for back-ordered bits.
What size tires?
I was able to buy some 16"x2.125 tires on Amazon for about $15 each. Which is high, but there were lots of tires in roughly that size range. I also got a 20"x1.75-2.25" Bell tire for about $17.
I have crazy young boys with BMX bikes who have just discovered the age-old fun of making skid marks with the coaster brakes, so I’ve had to replace one tire thus far, but I’m anticipating a couple more.
Wine! My mom gets her wine almost exclusively from an independent shop, and their distributors are experiencing severe shortages now. (These are mostly California wines.)
20x1.5.
My local bike shop had none, of any brand. Folding bikes are all over the place in NYC. They’re perfect for small apartments in big cities, so I’m guessing tire sales are up.
I found some online, although most of the online bike parts sellers were out. I found them at a recumbent bike shop in Utah. Worked out well. I was prepared to take any old brand I could get, but they had the fairly expensive, but supposedly very flat-resistant, brand I really wanted.
Rebuild your stockpile soon.
I was surprised to find the regular cat litter gone from Sam’s Club. There wasn’t even an empty skid. Just a blank space in the aisle.
Having some trouble finding canned crabmeat. A couple of stores have been out for awhile now, and the stores that do have it have raised the prices by $1.00/can. Probably due to all of the shipping issues that have been going on.
They seem to be showing back up now, but for a while, pickled okra was really hard to find. I use it (the hot and spicy ones) instead of olives in my bloody marys.
Thanks for the heads-up on TP, going to Costco tomorrow anyway. I’ll grab some. FYI, not hoarding, we were going to need some in the next 2 weeks anyway.
Individually wrapped frozen burritos and chimichangas.
Check your local Kroger. Around here Smart & Final are part of the Kroger empire and they were loaded with them mid-week when I went shopping.
According to the Kroger store finder, the closest one is 100 miles away, and the next closest is 130 miles.
Jif peanut butter is starting to get scarce around here.
Friskies cans are nonexistent around here. Light supplies of other brands, and no smaller bags of litter.
Amazon seems to be doing OK on Friskies canned cat food.
Thank you! Amazon and Chewy were my next stops.
