Won best in show at an art exhibition. Painted a lot of stuff.
Drove almost 600 miles round-trip last week to give a presentation to the Quality Assurance managers of my company, up in St. Augustine. I’m kind of the go-to guy for a lot of questions at Corporate (headquarters), so they figured it was time for me to go-to them.
Also, I’m learning Esperanto. Dunno why. Just because.
Opalcat, that’s wonderful!
I rode from Orlando to St. Augustine for Riding Into History, a classic/antique motorcycle Concours D’Elegance. Met up with my Dad in Ormond Beach and rode up together. Rode into the old part of St. Augustine afterwards for lunch.
**Opalcat ** - congrats!
I built an electric guitar - not the woodworking/luthier high-skills experience that building an acoustic would be, but for a complete novice like me, quite the challenge. With Fender type guitars, you can buy after-market pieces - a body, a neck, the pickups, etc. - and they should all fit just so, since they are made to the correct specs. But that of course rarely happens, so one must keep a cool head and improvise.
Anyway, I made a Telecaster - very similar to a Fender '52 Reissue as seen here, but with a number of critical changes that tailor it to my preferences.
I feel like a giddy college freshman who somehow actually rebuilt the engine of his old VW Beetle - sure, it was easy relative to other car work, but for a noob like me, it was quite the adventure! But I got it together, it sounds great, and I have even gigged with it and everyone in the band thought it was rockin’ - very cool.
Husband and I got half hammered at Duffy’s Bar and Grill (A Non-Smoking Establishment) and had the right front strut on the van replaced by a friend of mine. He’ll do the left one sometime this week - we got too - er - lit to get it all done last Friday. I also read two books.
Visit Nebraska for three weeks.
The next interesting thing I plan on doing is explain to my parents that my three-week vacation is going to be a lot longer. Oh, and by the way, I’m getting married. Wait, that’s not going to be interesting, just awkward.
Started a new batch of homebrew - a delightful English style nut brown ale. mmmmmmmmmalty goodness here i come!
I went to the airshow at Chino, CA over the weekend. They had 27 WWII warbirds up at once in formation fly-bys, including at least two unique flying types: an early P-38 and a razorback P-47. I’m an old airshow jukie but I don’t think I’m going to see the likes of that again.
I got misty, but had sunglasses on.
I went endurance-racing with my wife:
3-Hr motorcycle endurance race at Nelson Ledges roadcourse. We placed 4th in our class and had a blast.
Someone posted pics of the event here .
We are the black/yellow bike, #75.
Last night I called the cops on my neighbor for a noise violation. He’s taken to hammering and using his circular saw from about 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. And last night he started singing as well, and he is terribly tone deaf.
Copper came and told him to stop, and then he went right along doing it. Copper came back and re-told him to stop and then he stopped. He was also told to mow his yard and get the junker car out of his driveway.
Tee hee.
I haven’t done anything interesting lately, but I have made a decision to do something interesting in a couple of months. God willing there will be an MPSIMS thread about it then.
Took a stained glass class through the local university. I’ve wanted to learn for years but finally decided at 45 years old that life wasn’t going to teach me, so I’d better learn somewhere. I’ve made six pieces so far and have plans for many more!
My envy has just slipped the sultry bonds of earth into heights where never lark, or even eagle flew.
And Picker?
Could we keep private details, you know?, private please?
I time traveled to get to my best friend’s funeral, leaving Tokyo at about 3pm, then arriving in Atlanta at 2pm the same day. Whew! Those 37-hour days are tiresome.
Either that or exploring inside Diabutsu (the Great Buddha) near Tokyo 2 days prior to the time travel.
PS: Missy2U, was Duffy there? Did you see Finnegan?
we’ll just keep that between us then, buddy.

Nope - no Duffy. Just Bill, Niki, Steve, Eva, Eric, Me, My Husband and Jeff. Jeff’s the mechanic.
