That picture is small, any game picture would look nice at that size. Wait until its 27". I would think that Link would have a human face with the power of the GC.
Well, it turns out that that picture is over a year old. They’ve completely revamped the graphics to look like a cartoon. See bouv’s link above. I mean the graphics and animation are amazing, but the style is very childish and cartoony. See here.
I was wondering if anyone knew if Nintendo have plans for a new Mario Kart for the GC. If so that alone would make me want to buy one.
Jonnyb, I’m pretty sure they have plans for a Mario Cart game for the Gamecube because they have plans for just about all of their franchise games including Starfox and Metroid. Metroid should be interesting because they’re planning on making it first person. They’re also working on sequal to Perfect Dark, which was the real sequal to Goldeneye, not that piece of crap TWINE.
Also I managed to hunt down a Gamecube last week (on Black Friday to boot!), and so far I’m more than happy with my purchase. The only games I have are All-Star Baseball (where I drafted a new Orioles team so I can actually win with them) and Rogue Leader which is a game that all by itself makes the Gamecube worth buying.
Aslyum, is Rogue Leader that good? It looks amazing, definitely one of the games I want to purchase when the GC makes it way to Australia. We have to wait until at least March/April for the Cube, and now there are rumours flying around that we might not get it until September… Stupid PAL… sniff
Any Americans wanna send me one??
Most new televisions are NTSC/PAL compatible. If you are that desperate, you might be able to buy one and use a US-Australian AC adapter. NTSC picture quality isn’t as good but I’m not sure that would matter so much with a vidseo game.t
Here’s my guesses on the console survival wars.
I think Gamecube will survive. Nintendo has a HUGE fanbase, and they always have good games up their sleeve. Count in all their licenses and it’s a no fail.
Playstation 2 has been established for a year now. It’s specs may not be up to Xbox standards, but it’s in so many households, and the Playstation One is so revered I don’t see how it can fail.
That leaves the Xbox. I like this console. It seems the developers went so out of their way to woo gamers and game developers. And the power of the hardware. . . I want this one to succeed, but I don’t think it will. And I don’t think the market can bear more than two platforms for too long.
That said, I really like the size of the Gamecube. A sweet little gaming package that won’t take up any room. Combine that with a $200 base price. . .
Of course their controller, while nice, can not stand up to the comfort of the Xbox controller, which fits my hands perfectly.
At any rate, I’m not buying a new console until the new year. And I won’t buy any system that doesn’t support Grand Theft Auto 3. That game looks so good I almost bought a Playstation 2 the other day just so I could play it.
