So when is the next big fictional date to commemorate?

I happened to be at Universal Studios the day that Back to the Future 2 took place and they made a pretty big deal of it. It was also a big deal on social media. I’d never really seen anything like that, a movie with a future fictional date being commemorated like that, and it was kinda cool.

So are there any other upcoming dates from iconic movies? The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Apr. 5, 2063, the date in the Star Trek Universe where we make first contact. We blew right by Terminator’s Judgement Day, Aug. 29, 1997.

The first thing I noticed from that list was The Running Man (tv show and movie? Heard of it, but never saw it), which takes place in 2017-2019.

Judgment Day is inevitable.

Blade Runner is probably the next well known one. It was set in 2019.

I’m not sure which type of stories count. But in S.M. Stirling’s The Peshwar Lancers 2025 is significant. It’s when John II dies and his son Charles becomes King-Emperor of the British Raj. Other events in that same year ensure that (probably) there will not be another disastrous Fall to devestate the Earth.

Zhora’s bio lists retraining in Polit. Homicide on 09 Feb, 2018. So that’s next Friday.

(All 4 of the escaped replicants incept dates were in 2016 and 2017.)

Flying cars, offworld colonies, etc., but Deckard has to make a pay video call. Costs $1.25. And both his and Rachael’s numbers are 7 digits (starting with 555 of course).

I think Rollerball (1975) is set in 2018.

I want my flying car!
