Out there in wiki-land there’s a political map of the world that identifies nations as having universal health care, getting universal health care, or do not have universal health care. I started going through the ones without universal health care (Turkey, Belarus, Bolivia, Peru, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc.), only to discover that the map was out-of-date. The world has been rushing to universal health care.
I did not look at Cayman Islands or Bermuda. The only other places that did not have universal health care were nations so poor that they really did not have what we would think of a health care systems, such as countries in Central Africa. As far as I could find, the USA was unique in that it could afford a good health care system and chose not to have a universal health care system, as oppsed to not being able to afford a health care system in the first place. All other nations that can afford a health care system have chosen universal health care.
It’s not UHC. I might “attempt” to be an Olympic athlete, but that doesn’t make me one.
Of course Limbaugh, being enormously wealthy, can live anywhere in the world he wants and then travel for the best healthcare when he needs it. The idea that he will suffer if he moves to a country without UHC is laughable. He can afford to have a private doctor on call 24/7 anywhere on earth.
It’s interesting to look at what citizens have expected from the state over the years. Way the hell back, it was protection from invaders. Then added to this was protection from rulers. Then trade. Then infrastructure. Then civil rights. Now health care. In the march of civilization, Rush is a dog turd to be stepped over.
Oh, please not this BS in GQ. It’s bad enough when it crops up in GD, but presented as fact? No. Somalia is a failed state, bordering on anarchy. Libertarianism is not anarchy.
Libertarianism is anarchy for the rich. And I’ve seen more than one libertarian speak of Somalia with approval, because at least they don’t have the Ultimate Evil of government ruining everything.
Of course, somehow they never decide to move there…
No, it’s not. If you wan to spew that opinion in other forums, that’s your perogative. But it’s not a fact, and you’re not going to get away with saying that in this forum.
As Pasolini had one of his fascist characters say “We are the true anarchists”. Anarchism and libertarianism both wish to limit to collectivist powers of government, or remove them as far as possible. Anarchists differ from Libertarians in that they think it’ll end well with humans becoming virtuous and co-operative and so on, while fascists, believe in a war of all against all in which the strong will prosper.
But to answer the OP, he obviously isn’t going anywhere. Not Costa Rica, not Canada as some others seem to be planning, nowhere. It’s just rhetoric.
But if he did, then probably China. Hasn’t accumulated too much regulation or taxation or suchlike as yet, still popular with the likes of the Adam Smith Institute and has some enclaves like Shanghai with a Western style of living, if you’ve got the money.
Now we’re talking about the fat guy, not the band, right? I’m sure there would be little problem for him to get a shack slid off an C-130 in Antartica then (assuming his taxes are pain up) renounce his US citizenship and arrange for oxy drops once a week
I thought Rush was just a Conservative strawman the Family Guy writers made up; now y’all saying he’s real… What’s next? the Cookie Monster is real too?
