So who is Red X?

I am watching one of the more open-ended episodes of Teen Titans on cartoon network.

In a previous episode, Robin had adopted the persona of ‘Red X’ to get close to Slade. Unfortunately the plan failed, and worse, the suit was stolen. The episode I’m watching is in which this ‘new’ Red X is trying to get enough Synovium (power source) to power his suit enough to continue his crimes.

I understand the premise is that this Red X is just some anonymous thief; somebody that doesn’t take sides and only cares about money. But what bugs me is that they never found out who this guy really is. The reason is makes me wonder is because if he’s just some nobody, how was he capable of stealing the suit in the first place?!

So who is he? Terra? Slade maybe?

Some of the spec says its another Robin!!

It’s not Peter Tosh?

Not finding out who it is leaves room for another Red X episode which is good because I love the character.

I believe Red X is voiced by the same guy who does Robin. Not sure where we can go from there. We’ve seen Robin and Red at the same place, so its not Robin when he’s asleep (a la the Huntress). Tim Drake was used in the Batman series, so I don’t know if they have the rights to him. Then again, Dick Grayson was used in the Batman series too. Hmm. My WAG: Jason Todd before joining up with Bats.

Red X is secretly Speed’s brother.

Ben Reilly, clone.

Beat me to it.

Bravo.

I’d hit you over the head with the Official Marvel Continuity Guide, if only I could find it…

I like the fact that they’ve left Red’s identity open–like Wolfian, I’d like to see him again. Clearly, he was an exceptional thief even without the suit, given that he managed to steal it in the first place. The show has indicated that the Tower has some pretty sophisticated security systems–certainly the ones Cyborg built in for the Titans East version were.

It was nice to see a slightly different adversary, too. The Titans villains tend to be a bit over-the-top–Red X wasn’t out to rule the world, or destroy things purely for the sake of destruction.
