So you think you can build a model airplane.

Out of thin air. Just guessing that “a skilled craftsman” could make around $50 per hour and at a 40 hour week it would take that long to make it worth 2 million.

I’m not sure that 40 hour week is applicable here. There’s no department of labor regulations on time spent working on a hobby! But if you want to stick with that, then be sure to calculate time and a half for those days he spent 16 hours on it. That’ll bring the time to $1million down some.

Where’s Rocketeer on this thread? He is the SDMB’s own resident model-building expert, although he doesn’t work in manila folder, to my knowledge. I would be interested in his take on this this work…

He’s got a stack of YouTube videos about his efforts.

Holy shit, check out his landing gear test. Yes, they actually retract. And the suspension works. And the rear axle actually steers. And there’s an over-center locking link. Cripes, he’s modeled every single hydraulic line and bracket.

In some sense, it’s little surprising that he’s only employed doing odd jobs. He’s got some sort of skillset (attention to detail, persistence, resourcefulness, etc) that ought to be useful to someone.

I hope this guy isn’t burning candles at both ends finishing this project.

A fire would be… unfortunate.

hate to say it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if autism is involved.
