So, you want to edit a movie

I’ve been amused at the recent story of a die hard Star Wars fan who took it upon himself to re-edit The Phanthom Menace by way of removing extraneous dialog, reducing Jar Jar’s presence (thank you!), and removing some of young, but annoying, Annakin’s scenes. For those who have seen “The Phanthom Edit”, as it’s known, have been impressed. Even George Lucas was curious enough to want a copy. The editor sent him one immediately, although I haven’t heard Lucas’ reaction yet.

What movie would YOU re-edit in this fashion?
I think I could chop out a good 30 minutes of Star Trek: The Motion Picture and not lose a thing.

How 'bout a Reader’s Digest form of movie?

Take a well-known movie and cut it down to under 30 minutes.

I could SO go for this.

For example, my husband has often said that Dogma would be a great movie, if not for the last 10 minutes.

Pearl Harbor, I think, would have been better without the last 45 minutes.

Bridges of Madison County could probably be shaved down to bullet points and made into a 15-minute film.

That’s all I can think of off the top of my head!
