Great, I just realized that my membership had expired yesterday, and renewed (I rarely check the email address where I registered, and it’s one of those annoying mail.com things where email vanishes if you don’t log in every months or so; I’ll have to change it). And I just now saw this thread.
Any chance for getting my charter membership back?

Tuba, Jerry, I appreciate the effort, even if nothing comes of it. Thank you guys. 
I had been a “charter” member, and I didn’t know that memberships were going to expire (I don’t read THE “stickies” often). In any case, I pay for renewal via PayPalm, but I get SSA benefits, whicxh are regularly credited on the third of the month, so I couldn’t effect a PayPal transaction before the third of May; IMO, the choice of the 2d of the month as deadline is arbittrary.
dougie, I’m sorry you got caught up in this and I’m glad you resubscribed.
We did a lot to try to get people’s attention; I don’t know how you managed to get through the month and not see announcements and etc. all over, but obviously that’s what did happen.
We also tried to point out that if people had any problems meeting the deadline they should put a note in the “make my payment” thread and make arrangements. There are many very nice Dopers who have helped one another out, through loans and outright gifts. It’s a mark of how great this community is that our members do this for others; people would have been glad to help you.
