SoCal Doper Poll--Do or Don't you have a Disney annual pass?

That’s pretty much why I’ve never gone. My husband tries to convince me that it’s not that bad, but I’m not convinced.

I don’t have one, but my fiancé has worked for the Mouse in the past so she can get us in for free when we feel like going. Haven’t been in over a year, though. It’s fun every once and a while, but not a place I’d want to go every month.

Hell, I love Disneyland, always have! My dad even marched with Walt Disney in the opening-day parade as a young Boy Scout.

Yes, I have had passes for the last four years (since my kids were born).

If I’d been smart, I would have had them during my wasted youth as well, would have saved me a fortune. The Happiest Place on Earth was a frequent destination while in college, which usually meant a drunken or drugged-up trip. Yes, that maked the Main Street Electrical Parade very interesting, but I just love rollercoasters and other rides, regardless of the mental state I’m in.

And California Adventure has much better food, and a larger variety of it.

Crowds? I live in SoCal, I don’t even notice crowds. High prices? Same answer, basically.

“Maked?” MAKED?!?

Oh sure, everybody’s going to believe I went to college…

When I lived in Orange County I had a pass. The first year it was a deluxe pass that was given to me as a gift. The next couple of years I had a so cal resident pass that I bought myself. The deluxe pass is pretty expensive, but has no blackout days. The resident pass is much cheaper, but it has a lot of blackout days. That was ok with me, since I didn’t really want to go when there were tons of people.

I’m not a huge Disney fan, but it can be very fun to head up there after work on a Tuesday or Wednesday with some friends (who were the ones who gave me the first pass, and had passes themselves), ride a few rides, get some food and hang out. It’s a totally different experience when there’s just about nobody else in the park. There were rarely lines for anything, and everyone was much more relaxed, both the other guests and the staff. You also sometimes get opportunities to do things like ride Space Mountain with the lights on, or go around again on Pirates because there’s nobody waiting in line.

I have gone on occasion with a friend who works for the Disney Company and has a silver pass. I don’t have one of my own, and I prefer casinos or San Diego these days.
