SoCal Dopers, Has Anyone Been to a fresh&easy Yet?

Actually, I bought a turkey sandwich and a lemonade. Tasty, and six hours later, I’m suffering no ill effects. So kudos there.

It occurs to me that most of them seem to be opening in more downscale neighborhoods, which otherwise don’t seem to have much of anything, so that’s a good thing, and in that light, the prices are more than reasonable.

And regardless of what I said earlier about the appearance, it beats the hell out of Food4Less.

Just wait until they start selling the “Tesco Value” range, then you’ll know the true meaning of suffering!

I think buying Mexican food out of the back of some grandma’s car over by the courthouse beats the hell out of Food 4 Less!

Thanks to everyone for the replies so far, keep 'em coming!

Hell, I bet grandma’s tamales are better than ones you’d get in ANY store (much less Food4Less)!

They are, trust me.

The one in Point Loma is not too far from a new Trader Joe’s. My old Scoutmaster runs that Trader Joe’s, so I’ll keep shopping there. Not to mention that TJ’s is about a block from my old high school, so I can hop over there and torture my old teachers with the stories of my drug-addled misadventures in their classes that I never got caught at. I’m glad you brought this to my attention, though. If I do happen to stumble in there for some reason, I’ll let you know.

Now I hear there may be one in Azusa. I’ll get around to it eventually.

The one that I thought was down the road turned out to be a Ralph’s market. I guess that is closing, and the fresh & easy will be opened there instead. That explains why I hadn’t noticed it!
