Soccer Hat Trick Question

What is the name of the hat trick that consists of a yellow card, assist, and a goal?

This came up when I was watching Brazil play China this morning, when the commentator made a comment the one of Brazil’s player had almost completed the _______ hat trick. He already had the card and the assist all he needed was the goal.

Has anybody heard this term before?

A Hatrick is three goals, maybe the commentator was waffling to fill time, and talking about apreverbial hat trick (i.e 1 card 1 assist and 1 goal).

I’ve heard that term used in hockey. A Gordie Howe hat trick, would be a goal, an assist, and a 5-minute fighting major.

I would assume that there would be a similar term for football.

Which commentator were you listening to?
Here in the UK, I have never heard of any football hat trick, except for scoring 3 goals.

I was listening to Seamus Malin commentate. He is originally from Dublin and speaks with an Irish brogue, but has lived in the U.S. since college.

This is probably something he picked up (or invented) after moving to the U.S.; it’s certainly not a statistic anyone keeps track of over here. For that matter, “assists” aren’t kept track of over here either.

Unless you are playing Fantasy Football. Then assists count.
