If only national hero Luis Suarez had been the one who did it, we’d really see a “Football in Crisis” moment from the English press.
I doubt Hazard will get a Cantona-like 8-month ban, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see it at 10+ games. I haven’t watched Chelsea as much this year as the last few, but it seems like they’re at their best when Hazard, Oscar, and Mata are in sync. This gives Rafa the excuse needed to sacrifice that trio and put Torres and Ba out together.
No, just that he was going to waste time. And frankly, if you look at when he jumps on the ball, it seems more like a startled reaction than anything else.
The little shit is the son of the millionaire director, he had a business interest in screwing up the game.
Little shit announced online he was going to do this, so there was intent.
If you decide to run into an area and yell ‘niggers’ in a bar, then don’t be surprised if you get your lights well and truly put out.
Little shit bears plenty of responsibility for this, and by the way, ball boys are generally 12-13 years old, this privileged little shit only got the role because of his millionaire dad - now he learns that not all the money in the world can protects him when he acts the arsehole - he should be paying Hazard for the life tuition.
Remember that Hazard himself is hardly that much older than the kid.
Swansea should be well and truly screwed over for this, after all, if their fans had misbehaved then they would have been held responsible.
The little shit was determined to spoil the game for everyone, both sets of fans and the neutrals - to me its just a form of vandalism - quite honestly daddy should have come down to the side of the pitch and fetched him a good one around the ear-hole, maybe if daddy had instilled more discipline we would not be here.
Totally agree. As a rival fan I should be happy at Hazard getting banned, but I honestly believe he should be allowed off scot free. The little cunt created the situation, making himself part of the actual match when he should never in any circumstances have been allowed to do so.
Its very disappointing to me that I have heard no mention of Swansea FC being called by the FA to answer for the misconduct of their staff. The media focus on Hazard has swept their responsibility under the carpet it seems.
And no, I don’t think Hazard kicked him. He kicked the ball.
The FA are going ahead and charging Hazard with violent conduct:
That article is reckoning on an extra game suspension making it 4 - basically lets the FA be seen to be doing something but acknowledging that there’s nothing really here in terms of violent conduct.
He probably deserves the extra game for stupidity IMHO - there’s no intent to injure there but he’s allowed himself to look like a millionaire kicking a child on national tv.
If that was really the case he’d be on a charge and a few missed games would be the least of his worries. As S Wales police have said they’re not taking things any further it’s pretty clear that good sense has prevailed (bar some FA posturing).
Young offenders are children, that is true, but when you have to work with them you find that they fully deserve what is coming to them.Takes a great deal of maturity and self control to behave professionally, I really would not expect a young pro soccer player to have these qualities, especially when provoked.
Frequently you feel that what they need is a good sorting out, but of course that’s not allowed, and so they go on to progress to more and more destructive acts on society - there is generally a place for physical intervention if you can be sure it is instructive, but then, who is the judge of that? Which is why you have to use other means of control.
Maybe I am biased - but I am aware of quite a number of such children you would happily wish were dead, and would probably be quite prepared to pull the trigger on.
Folk such as Resting are happy to have others deal with the fall out for the failures of society, and just as happy to condemn those who do when faced with extreme provocation.
Its not glamorous working with shit, you get splashed from both sides, the offender and the unknowing public buffoon who knows absolutely everything whilst sat in their armchair - suggest you do a bit of voluntary work, you could start be joining the Independent Monitoring Board and inspecting a few young offender environments, especially in the records offices when you will find out what they have done.

A prick of a ball boy decides to lie on top of the ball and not give it back
Would have easily done the same thing
This drivel sums up everything that is wrong with the game. The ball boys are off limits to the players on the pitch. Regardless of the situation the players can’t take it into their own hands. “deserving it” is utterly meaningless and to excuse Hazard on those grounds is to reinforce the dumbly accepted blanket stereotype that footballers are precious little flowers, unable to control their emotions (the ability which presumably they surrender upon receipt of their million pound pay packets) They aren’t special, they aren’t different and that particular situation didn’t call for any reaction from Hazard.
Who the Ballboy was or his intentions are irrelevant. He is off limits, the players should defer to the referee or be prepared to accept a administrative kicking themselves. The players are professionals, the ball boys are not.
Had hazard done the same to an opposition keeper who was deliberately timewasting then he would have been sent off, logically the sanctions should be even higher considering the person involved here isn’t even on the field of play.
and for a FOOTBALL PLAYER to become outraged over the timewasting of a “civilian” is so laughably hypocritical it verges on incoherent. Where do we think the ballboy gets the impression that timewasting is OK?
